2021 General Election Voting Information
There is no reason not to get out and vote in this year’s general election.
Here is what you need to know:
September 18 – Vote-by-mail ballots mailed out
- Ballots will only be mailed to you if you are on the permanent vote by mail list
- If you aren’t sure you should call 1-877-NJ-VOTER (1-877-658-6387) *Voting by mail is still available for those who choose to vote this way
- Any registered and eligible voter may vote by mail for any election
- To apply for a vote by mail ballot visit https://nj.gov/state/elections/vote-by-mail.shtml
- Ballots can be returned by USPS, a Secure Ballot Drop Box, or by delivering to your county clerk

October 12 – Voter registration deadline (for Nov. 2 general election)
October 23 – NEW! Early in-person voting will begin and run through Sunday, October 31
- Hours will be Monday-Saturday, 10:00 a.m. – 8:00 pm. and Sunday, 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. – NO appointment necessary
- Each county will have designated early in-person polling places – 3 – 10 per county depending on population

October 26 – Vote-by-mail applications due by mail to the county clerk for the general election
November 1 – Deadline for in-person vote-by-mail applications for the general election (by 3 p.m.)
November 2 – Election Day
- All regularly operated polling places will be open for all voters who wish to cast their ballots on voting machines
